A Legacy Worth Upholding
Arden Jewelers donates custom necklace to support local school
In February of this year, we asked our email newsletter subscribers to nominate worthy non-profit organizations for us to support. We were amazed at the response. So many of our clients are passionate supporters of so many beautiful organizations. This is the story of our partnership with one of them.
Legacy Classical Academy is a small, non-profit school located in the foothills of Northern California. It fosters a unique blend of home education and a traditional classroom setting that both challenges and encourages its students. To quote one parent involved with the school:
The community is warm and supportive across the board. I love seeing the group come together to support students or families.
When they reached out to us about their upcoming fundraising auction, we knew that we could create something really special for them. Our inspiration for this piece came from two places: their simple yet artistic school logo and the traditional jade bi. It may seem like an odd juxtaposition to incorporate elements from ancient Chinese culture into a gift for an academy that is rooted in classical western philosophy. But, we think that is where the beauty of this piece comes from. It is a blending of complementary ideas and traditions just as the Legacy Academy itself is a blending of educational formats.
To pull off the design, our team of jewelers hand fabricated the outer circle from a raw silver disc. The inner piece was then rolled out from a piece of recycled 18k yellow gold before it was carefully set in the center of pendant. Finally, we used our laser engraver to inscribe the piece with the Legacy Classical Academy logo.
The necklace turned out to be a big hit at the auction bringing in far more than we anticipated. One attendee of the event saw the winner and said that she has never seen anyone so happy to have a piece of jewelry. Hearing that really reminds us of the joy that jewelry can bring. That is why we love doing what we do every day. Creating a unique piece that brings someone so much joy is its own reward.
